South Dakota Mines is hosting its eighth annual Dinosaur Extravaganza from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Museum of Geology. Museum staff and the student Paleontology Club will lead hands-on activities about dinosaurs and their environment. All ages welcome. Free admission.
Dinosaur Extravaganza is a public event ideal for families with children 10 and under. Family fun awaits as you pass through our many booths and activities. Come and unravel some of the mysteries of South Dakota?s past with our Dinosaurs: When and Where and our walk through time activities. Absorb the many different facts and fictions about dinosaurs and how our understanding of them has changed over the years with our History of Paleontology booth. Experience excitement as you hunt the elusive dinosaur duckies for prizes, show off your creativity while you paint your own fossil casts or create your very own dinosaur scene, or learn basic field techniques with our dig box as you slowly brush away the sand and dirt to uncover the great animals of the past. These activities and many more are available to you! So please stop on by for a day of fun for the whole family!
